Lights in the darkness

Another Yuletide season arrives on December 22 and soon the days will begin to grow longer.  Midwinter, is a time of short days and limited light. This is why the original Yule was celebrated by Germanic people as a festival that had much to do with “bringing back the sun.” Decorations and festivities were focused on the return of the light. In the spirit of the season, here is our dome glowing in the night.

There are a number of good Yule sites on the Net, but many bogus ones as well. For a good fact based description of Yule, visit Yule–Wikipedia.  Another Yule site that has become a favorite of mine is Christmas/Yule in Iceland . I hope you will enjoy these as much as I have.
